Dear Friends of Taffety Punk,

We are tremendously grateful for your support of Taffety Punk Theatre Company. Thank you for a fabulous year! Our 2025 season was a celebration of what Taffety Punk does best and we couldn’t do that without you.

Our most recent production of Cyrano played to packed houses and garnered rave reviews. Adapted and directed by company member Lise Bruneau, DC Theater Arts called the show “flawlessly directed” and said, “Don’t miss it!” Broadway World extolled the talents of our artists as “vibrant, visceral, and immediate” and praised their “unforgettable performances” saying, “this extraordinary cast delights and breaks our hearts.”

Earlier in the year, we mounted my own adaptation of Beowulf, directed by company member Chris Curtis. Met with more raves in the press, we were thrilled at how excited the community was to hear the oldest story in English, and how the tale resonates so clearly to modern ears.

Our mission is to make work that is exciting, meaningful, and affordable. It is because of you and our other wonderful Taffety Punk supporters that we are able to bring the highest quality, most affordable theatre to life.

Now more than ever, your gift is absolutely crucial to our success. 

It is no secret that the arts are experiencing a funding crisis. Historically reliable government sources of funding are drying up—and the sting felt from this realignment has hit us and other DC theatre companies hard. The budget for the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities has been slashed. While we cannot blame the commission—they have always done well for all of the arts organizations in town—they have had to make difficult decisions. We are now facing a $15,000 deficit in support right at the top of 2026.

DC Theater Arts praised Taffety Punk’s Beowulf, A Retelling saying, “This is the true role of art: to remind us of those enduring human values that don’t change over time: courage and generosity and kindness and empathy, selflessness and strength of character.” With your help we can continue to enrich the lives of our audience in this way: by creating art that invigorates and inspires all.
